Currently there are two standards that are widely used for Social Responsiblity and Accountability. The most recently published document is ISO 26000, which is a comprehensive guidance document covering a variety of issues related to social responsiblity.  An important pre-cursor to ISO 26000 is SA 8000.

SA 8000
is an international standard for Social Accountability which establishes minimum criteria for decent working conditions.

SA 8000
is based on the UN Universal Declaration of Human Rights, Convention on the Rights of the Child and various International Labor Organization (ILO) conventions. 
 

SA 8000
covers the following areas of accountability:

- Child labor
- Forced labor
- Workplace safety and health
- Freedom of Association and Right to Collective Bargaining

- Discrimination

- Discipline

- Working hours

- Remuneration

- Management System for Human Resources
